My figurative sculptures draw inspiration from historical references, mythology, and everyday life. Old World/New World influences play an important role in my art. Having spent half of my life in Transylvania and the other half in Canada I experience a certain duality that provides an insight to reflect upon the fundamental aspects of our very existence. My sculptures are the result of an intuitive process that functions as a bridge between the real and an alternative world that provides a necessary outlet for my thoughts and imagination. I started working in papier mache in 2007. My interest grew over the years as I continuously searched for new ways of using this underrated but versatile material. It is a great pleasure to see the art community embrace papier mache as a versatile fine art medium. |
