Morta Papier maché clay. 2009. Approx.19"x13"x10" (height/width/depth).
Morta is one of the three Fates in Roman mythology, powerful creatures feared by humans and gods alike that decide the destiny of mortals. Nona spins the thread of life, Decima measures it and Morta cuts it with her scissors. This sculpture looks at the effects of chance on an otherwise well rehearsed routine. What happens if the ball of thread is dropped by accident? © 2006-2011 Erika Takacs. All Rights Reserved. |
