High Heels: Assemblage

40 cm tall
I really enjoy this form of sculpture. It's a great tool for me to express the lighter side of things.

Ariadne's Revenge with base

Inspired by the Greek myth about Ariadne, King Midas' daughter, who helped Theseus out of the Labyrinth. Theseus promised to marry Ariadne, however he abandoned her on his way back to Athens.

The Arrival

I started working on this piece in 2008. I really like the way the finish came out.

The Arrival

Why did it take so long to finish this piece? I think it was the impossibility of taking a moment in time, in the past, and replicate it in a way that makes a personal experience universal. Those who experienced this same circumstance, ideally can identify with it, those who did not, can still feel empathy.

Morta

One of the Fates from Roman mythology (or Moirae in Greek mythology), who decide the destiny of mortals. Morta is the one who cuts the thread of life.

Morta

She's about double in size what I'm used to, so it takes me a lot longer to finish this piece. More progress:

More pictures and story in my blog.

In The Beginning

In the beginning there were things we didn't understand. We wanted some answers. But nobody we knew had the answers. So we looked up to the sky and invented our first legend...

Finally got around to paint it. White acrylic on terra cotta watercolour. I'm pleased with the effect. The colouring softened and brought out her features nicely.

Movement series

In this series I am exploring movement and gesture without facial features. But who knows, if the piece asks for it, I might go for it.

Escape

The inspiration for this girl was the seven-mile boots from a tale by the brothers Grimm. who wouldn't want a pair of these to go to places in the nick of time?
